UK17 Consultancy is the company behind Glossy Magazine, one of Manchester and Cheshire’s leading independent luxury lifestyle publications. For almost 25 years we’ve been helping businesses grow through the power of trusted print, digital media, events and strategic partnerships.
How are you helping publishers?
We’re offering our advertising sales expertise to independent publishers, supporting them through consultancy.
Our strength with Glossy Magazine lies in understanding our advertisers’ objectives and creating campaigns that deliver measurable commercial results. We pride ourselves on building long-term partnerships rather than simply selling advertising space.
We spoke to co-founder of UK17 Consultancy and Glossy Magazine, Salim Uddin-Khandakar about how he’d like to see publishers approach their advertising sales.
What does a consultancy session look like with UK17 Consultancy?
We give you some oomph for your sales! We might work with you on:
- creating rapport and fact finding with your potential clients
- your mindset for positive sales, discussing your own confidence in your product
- the advertising options you’re offering – are they too complicated, are there enough options, what are your clients looking for that you’re not offering at the moment
- what you’re offering clients on a long-term basis – do you give consistency, are you selling a series
- dealing with objections
- your strategy in line with the sales funnel – what are you doing to attract attention, gain interest, increase desire, and instigate action
- your sales calls and what you could do to improve
What’s important to you at UK17 Consultancy, what are your values?
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We’ve built our business on trust, integrity and genuinely wanting our clients to succeed. We believe that when we help others grow, we grow with them.
Quality is another core value. Whether it’s the editorial we produce, the brands we work alongside or the events we organise, we never compromise on standards. We also believe strongly in collaboration, supporting local businesses while working with internationally recognised brands such as Rolex, Bentley, the RHS and Gordon Ramsay Restaurants.
Finally, resilience has defined our journey. Over nearly 25 years we’ve adapted through economic downturns, changing media habits and the pandemic, continuing to evolve while remaining true to our belief that premium print continues to thrive alongside digital.
What one thing would you like publishers to consider doing differently with their publications?
Stop selling pages and start building relationships.
Advertising works best when publishers take the time to understand a client’s business and become a genuine marketing partner rather than simply a supplier. Print still has enormous credibility and influence, particularly when combined with digital channels, events and networking opportunities.
Publishers should focus less on short-term advertising sales and more on creating communities, facilitating introductions and delivering measurable value. If you become indispensable to your clients’ growth, they’ll stay with you for years. That’s the philosophy that’s helped Glossy Magazine thrive for almost a quarter of a century.
